Our elementary students who walk or ride their bike to school will be better protected with a new crossing guard to control the flow of traffic at the intersection of 85A and 156.
“The district is excited to partner with the village to offer an added layer of safety for our community,” said Superintendent Frank Macri. Lea Foster will be a school-time crossing guard for the elementary school between the hours of 8:00-9:00 a.m. and 2:45-3:30 p.m.
“It was decided it was a great idea and everyone cooperated to have it in place at the start of the school year,” said Board of Trustee Jack Stevens. “Hats off to Bethlehem Sergeant Brian Hughes for helping us out,” he added.
Lea Foster is a parent of students attending VCSD. She completed a training program led by the Bethlehem Police Department and is ready to serve the community when students return on Tuesday, September 6.
