Students learned about the booming businesses that once made up Voorheesville, when the village was a railroad hub. Some stops along the way included: The Harris House, The Voorhees House, Cider and Vinegar Company (later Motts), Brook View Hotel (Smitty’s), The Grove Hotel, Village Bakery, New Scotland School, Severson Farm (Salem Hills), the original public library, butcher shop, various churches, Levi Wood Grocery Store, Voorheesville Savings and Loan, shirt and collar manufacturing factory (Jaycees), Voorheesville Depot, Albany Castings Company, and the Barrel Factory. Students also picniced in Nichols Park, and enjoyed ice-cream from Gracies. It was a fun day learning about a very special Village! You can view more photos, on our Facebook page.
