VCSD is pleased to introduce our new Assistant Principal for both middle and high school, who will also serve as our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Liaison. Olsen has over 16 years of experience in the education field, with a background in school psychology and certification as a behavioral analyst. As a resident of our community, she also has a personal connection to the area.
Assistant Principal Olsen says she is dedicated to ensuring that every student receives the support they need and she is eager to contribute her expertise to the district’s existing equity initiatives. One of her first priorities is building relationships. She has a goal to know every student’s name by the end of the year.
“I’m passionate about relational practices, ” Olsen says. “Building those relationships and improving culture and climate are my priority. I’m passionate about anything and everything that supports social and emotional learning.”
Beyond the educational setting, the new Assistant Principal is enthusiastic about being an active member of our school community. You’ll find her at athletic events, school concerts, plays, and community gatherings, actively engaging with students, families, and staff. She encourages everyone to introduce themselves when they see her in the building or at events.
“Building relationships leads to building trust with people,” says Olsen. “That’s how to lay the foundation so that families know that if they have concerns they can come to me and we will work together to find a resolution that’s in the best interest of their child.”
