Voorheesville Elementary School continues its journey integrating the McGraw Hill reading and writing program, Wonders. This K-5 ELA program emphasizes the five pillars of the science of reading: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Text Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension.
As part of daily instruction, students are engaging in close reading, analytical writing, and reinforcing foundational skills. The program’s approach offers a diversity of texts and genres, along with differentiated resources and scaffolds, to ensure an equitable learning experience for all.
As with any new program, it takes time to fully understand and utilize all its features. In this Wonder video update, Principal Jeff Vivenzio talks with Coach Sue about the support systems in place for teachers during the roll-out of the program and observations on how students are learning with Wonders.
VES anticipates continued growth and enrichment for all students as we continue exploring the Wonders program with students, parents and guardians.
