During its regular meeting on April 7, 2025, the VCSD Board of Education voted to approve a proposed $34,525,250 budget for the 2025-26 school year.
The proposed budget would preserve all current academic programs, staffing and funds for needed maintenance projects throughout our schools.
“We take our role as educators and responsible shepherds of the public’s money seriously. Each year, we carefully assess what we need to continue providing an enriching educational program for our students. This budget proposal reflects this intention, and aligns with our board’s goals regarding student achievement, staffing, financial responsibility, communication and fostering a safe and supportive learning environment,” said Superintendent Frank Macri in the presentation of the proposed budget to the board.
Maintaining programs, supporting safe and secure schools
The budget proposal would allow VCSD to maintain class sizes and continue all current programs and services, including, but not limited to:
- college and career-ready coursework such as distance learning, advanced placement and BOCES career and technical education.
- special education.
- social emotional initiatives.
- extracurriculars, clubs and activities.
Along with funding for our educational program and to ensure the safety and security of our campus, the proposal includes the addition of a part-time social worker to address increased student needs.
Voters will also consider:
- A proposition to purchase two 72-passenger diesel school buses as part of its regular replacement of its transportation fleet;
- The creation of a reserve fund dedicated to future school bus, vehicle and transportation equipment purchases;
- The election of two candidates for four year terms on the Board of Education.
Proposed 2025-26 Budget: At-a-Glance
The tax cap for this year’s budget will be 5.97%. This does not exceed the district’s state calculated limit or “cap.” Note: this would not necessarily equate with a 5.97% tax increase for residents.
The proposed budget assumes $34,525,250 of expenses and an equal amount in revenue.
