A message from Superintendent Macri:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well, and you are enjoying the summer break. Even during these months away from school, we are constantly thinking about how to best support our students. In addition to the academic planning that happens during the summer, we also consider our students’ overall well-being.
As many of you know, I am devoted to removing any stigma surrounding mental health wellness. So, when I received a Family Resource Tool Kit that was recently developed by the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), I was excited to share it.
As our children grow, they will undergo many normal behavioral changes. This Family Resource Tool Kit is designed to provide guidance for parents and guardians who may have concerns along the way. As OMH points out, what’s most important is that families are aware of available support systems, be they doctors, school staff, peers, or other professionals. While VCSD is committed to supporting mental health for our students, we also want to ensure that every family is aware of external resources so that they can choose the best fit for their individual needs.
We hope you continue to enjoy the summer break, and we look forward to seeing your students again in September.
Frank Macri
VCSD Superintendent
