On Oct. 4, a team member from the Harlem Wizards basketball team visited with K-12 students at school assemblies to promote a message of positive character-education. The assemblies also built excitement for an upcoming match between the Blackbird Hotshots team, which includes VCSD staff and faculty members, and the Harlem Wizards
The Harlem Wizards are known not only for their athletic dedication and skill but also for promoting a positive character-education message encapsulated in the acronym WizFit, which stands for wellness, imagination, zero hate, fun, inspiration and teamwork. The message aligns with VCSD’s emphasis on social/emotional wellness and growth and its BIRDS motto of inclusion, responsibility, determination and strength.
Organized and sponsored by the Voorheesville PTA, the Harlem Wizards school assemblies and exhibition game are designed to promote character education, boost school spirit and raise funds for PTA-sponsored school events like the annual Science Fair.
On Oct. 20, the Blackbird Hotshots will take on the Harlem Wizards in an exhibition basketball game at the University at Albany’s Broadview arena. Learn more and purchase tickets to the game.
