During their Oct. 2 meeting, the VCSD School Board is expected to officially appoint Doug Duell as the interim principal of Clayton A. Bouton. With a distinguished career in education, Duell brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the success of all students. He will serve for the rest of the academic year.
As the former principal at Warrensburg Central School District, Duell has a proven track record of fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. He spent his entire career in Warrensburg, progressing as a teacher, Director of Discipline, Summer School Principal, Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, and, for the last 15 years, Principal of the Jr.- Sr. High School.
Superintendent Frank Macri is pleased with all that Duell brings to the community.
“Doug’s leadership will be instrumental in guiding the high school during this transitional period,” Macri said. “The school board and I are confident that he will uphold our commitment to providing a nurturing and rigorous educational experience for all students.”
Duell says he believes in the power of collaboration between parents, guardians, teachers, and students to create a thriving educational community.
“I am honored to serve as the interim principal at Clayton A. Bouton, where there is such an emphasis on academic and social-emotional growth. I am eager to work alongside this dedicated staff and engage with parents and guardians to ensure every student reaches their full potential.”
Superintendent Macri says he looks forward to a successful and collaborative tenure with Duell, and he invites parents, guardians, and the entire community to join him in welcoming Duell to the Blackbirds family.
Duell will begin on Oct.16. VCSD will undertake stakeholder interest meetings and start the process of hiring the next permanent principal in the coming months. The anticipated start date for the new principal is July 1, 2024.
