January 15 Hold in Place Notification

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This is to inform you of an important safety procedure that we implemented today at the MS/HS campus.  At 1:20 p.m., we implemented a hold in place to address a situation involving a member of our school community. Although there was no threat to students, faculty or staff, law enforcement was called to the building. The hold in place lasted approximately 40 minutes.

A hold in place is a proactive action that we use to keep students, staff, and visitors safe during specific emergencies that may occur within or near our school. This action is typically used to limit the amount of traffic in our hallways for a short period of time.

A hold in place may be used in response to a variety of situations, including but not limited to:

  • Severe weather conditions
  • Nearby hazardous material spills
  • Law enforcement activity in the vicinity
  • Medical emergency
  • Any other situation where staying in place is the safest course of action

Learn more about safety terms and resources on our district School Safety page.

Today, the procedure was put into effect to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone while providing privacy and necessary assistance. As soon as the situation was managed, we resumed normal activities.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this time. As always, our top priority is the safety and care of our students and staff.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you,

Brianna Olsen
