Threat Deemed Not Credible

A letter from Superintendent Frank Macri:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We want to inform you that on Sunday, June 23, a student reported a social media comment made by a middle school student which threatened the school. The district immediately enacted our established District-Wide Safety Plan, contacted the authorities and talked with the families of both the student who made the threat and the student who reported it. The Albany County Sheriff’s Office responded and deemed the threat to not be credible.

Threats are not tolerated, and the district is taking further action with the student in accordance with the VCSD Code of Conduct.

The safety of our students and staff is our first priority. We applaud the student who came forward to report the threat and continue to remind everyone in our community that they should come forward if they have a concern. As a reminder, any threats of violence, suicide, bullying and illegal activity can be reported anonymously by text, call or app through the Safe School Helpline

We thank you for your continued awareness and assistance in maintaining a safe school environment.

Frank Macri
Superintendent, VCSD
