The Voorheesville Central School District will offer a Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program for the 2023-24 school year. The program will provide instruction to eligible 4-year-old district children at no cost to families through a state-funded grant collaboration with the district. Classes will begin in early September. Children must be four years of age on or before December 1, 2023 in order to register.
Application and information available here.
Placement is limited to 20 students and will be assigned through a lottery system if oversubscribed. Applications are due by June 16. If your application is selected, you will be notified by June 23. Applications not initially selected will be placed on a waiting list and called when a space becomes available.
Secular (non-religious) UPK instruction will be located at the Christ the King Early Childhood Center, 20 Sumter Avenue, in Guilderland. VCSD chose the Center based on a competitive bidding process that ensures students will receive a program aligned to the district’s Pre-Kindergarten curriculum. The program meets all applicable New York State laws and regulations pertaining to the provision of a Universal Pre-Kindergarten.
The VCSD program runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children may also be enrolled in morning and after-school care. Parents and guardians are responsible for the cost of any additional care.
